Reception Given at Chinese Embassy
The Chinese interim ambassador Zhang Chenggang hosted a reception at his embassy on July 11 to mark the 57th anniversary of the conclusion of the DPRK-China Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance.

Invited there were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly; Ryu Myong Son, deputy department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea; Ri Kil Song, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs; and officials concerned.

Also present there were staff members of the Chinese embassy and Chinese guests staying in Pyongyang.

The Chinese interim ambassador said in his speech that the above-said treaty is a valuable treasure left by the leaders of the elder generation of the two countries and a symbol of deep friendship formed between the two parties and the two peoples in the protracted revolutionary struggle and socialist construction.

Saying it is the steadfast policy of the Chinese party and government to reliably defend, consolidate and develop the China-DPRK ties of friendship and cooperation, he hoped that the Korean people would steadily achieve bigger and fresh success in socialist construction under the leadership of the WPK led by Chairman Kim Jong Un.

Yang Hyong Sop noted in his speech that the DPRK-China friendship, noble heritage and a common treasure bequeathed by the preceding leaders, is further developing in line with the requirements of the new times thanks to the deep trust and intimacy of the top leaders and joint efforts of the peoples of the DPRK and China.

It is the immovable stand of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government to creditably carry forward the precious tradition of the DPRK-China friendship generation after generation, he stated.

He hoped that the fraternal Chinese people would make bigger success in their work to achieve the great prosperity of China under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with General Secretary Xi Jinping as its core.

Earlier, the Chinese consul-general in Chongjin hosted a reception.
