ANC Statement on a Successful Thuma Mina Campaign Roll-out
10 September 2018

The African National Congress applauds the sterling work by its structures across all Provinces in rolling out the Thuma Mina campaign this past weekend.

This campaign is about the ANC reconnecting with the people through activities that improve people's lives and attend to bread and butter issues communities are confronted with on a daily basis.

This past weekend saw a co-ordinated rollout of the campaign led by ANC President, Cyril Ramaphosa, in KwaZulu-Natal.    The President, supported by national and provincial leaders of the ANC engaged the community of Chatsworth on a range of issues.    He also launched a Safety and Security programme of the Ethekwini Metro to create safer communities and engaged with young professionals.

ANC leaders, public representatives, ANC branches and volunteers were all involved in the Thuma Mina activities.    Activities across the country included issuing of title deeds, handing over of RDP houses, fixing potholes, cleaning dumping sites, engaging communities on illicit and expired food products and community responses to these, repairs to old age homes and encouraging first time voters to register to vote.

The ANC remains the hope of millions of South Africans to address their aspirations. We are heartened by the response of ordinary South Africans to the ANC's Thuma Mina campaign and we will continue to engage with our people and work closely with them to resolve service delivery challenges. The ANC hopes to spur all South Africans into action through this campaign with each citizen playing a role in improving the conditions of their communities and working with government and their public representatives.
