Taxi for May, Please
Morning Star, UK

THERESA MAY insisted to the House of Commons last week that her deal agreed with the European Commission was not only the best available but the only one possible.

She told us today, literally hours after her ministers denied that tomorrow’s House of Commons vote could be postponed, that, seeing as her deal would sink without trace in a vote — something long spotted by even the dogs in the street — that she’ll have another run at it.

The Prime Minister claims even now that there could be a Commons majority for her deal if MPs receive certain EU “reassurances” over the backstop arrangement.

Her negotiating stance is as threadbare as David Cameron’s was when he came back with a pocketful of platitudes after his pre-referendum summit with the EU.

May has spent two years telling members of her party (and the DUP) different things depending on her audience. That won’t wash any more. She has hit a brick wall. Taxi for May and time for a general election.
