Please attend this exciting and interesting class examining V.I. Lenin's classic work on Imperialism. Written during the First World War, the leader of the Russian Revolution and the founder of the Soviet Union, analyzes the profound economic changes that occured during the early 20th century that resulted in greater concentrations of wealth and the intensification of the exploitation of workers and peoples in the oppressed nations.
The lessons of the modern era can be found in the study of the economic and political developments of this period. In the 21st century wealth is even more concentrated and the workers and oppressed still need their own fighting organizations to win total freedom.
Topics covered in this class will include the character of imperialist war, the rise of monopoly capitalism, the role of revolutionaries during imperialist war and the political distinctions between proletarian internationalism, opportunism and social-pacifism.
