Man stunned with Taser, deputy injured in Pontiac confrontation

Pontiac— A 65-year-old man with apparent mental problems is hospitalized and an Oakland County Sheriff's deputy was injured in an incident Sunday in which the man was Tasered.

The man was committed for psychological treatment after the incident in the 200 block of West Columbia Street. According to a deputy's report, the man had not been taking his prescribed medication and was physically aggressive.

The man refused commands from deputies and lunged at them, according to the sheriff's office. The man was subdued after being stunned with a Taser and a deputy suffered a minor chin injury when falling to the pavement.
