A continuing chorus of condemnations have come in related to the deaths of well over 100 people in Egypt during clashes between pro and anti-military forces in the aftermath of demonstrations on July 26.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian army has launched a campaign in the Sinai in response to attack on soldiers in the Peninsula.

Demonstrations also occurred in neighboring Tunisia during and after the funeral of opposition figure Mohamed Brahmi who was assassinated on July 25. Brahmi was a leader in the Popular Front party which has been critical of the current government in Tunis.

Demonstrators have been calling for the resignation of the current Ennahda party dominated government.

Elections are underway in the West African state of Mali amid the occupation led by thousands of French troops and allied African soldiers. There are 27 candidates contesting the vote while the country has undergone tremendous upheaval over the last two years resulting largely from the destabilization of the region due to the imperialist war against Libya.

Finally, a bomb blast has struck the Turkish embassy in the Horn of Africa nation of Somalia. Turkey has been supporting the U.S.-backed Somalia Federal Government which is bolstered by Pentagon and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) spy and drone stations as well as 17,500 allied troops from various regional states.
