Angola: President Congratulates Guinea Bissau Counterpart
Luanda — Angolan head of State José Eduardo dos Santos Wednesday congratulated his counterpart of Guinea-Bissau, José Mário Vaz, on the 42nd anniversary of his country's independence.

The latter was delivered by plenipotentiary ambassador of Angola to Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Daniel Rosa.

On behalf of Angolan people, government and on my own congratulates Guinea Bissau on the 42nd anniversary of the proclamation of its independence on September 24, 1973, reads the message.

The letter was not delivered until Thursday due to the troubled political situation prevailing in Guinea-Bissau.

In his message the President said to be pleased with the return of hope, restoration of constitutional normalcy and the proper functioning of democratic institutions in the Portuguese speaking African country.

The Head of State wished all Guineans and his government success in the efforts focused on the benefit of political and economic stability of the country, in view of the development, progress and welfare in Guinea Bissau.

During half an hour audience, the ambassador Daniel Rosa praised the existing ties of friendship and brotherhood between the peoples of Angola and Guinea-Bissau, which date back to the years of their ancestors.

The ambassador considered the two countries' relations good and, according to him, there are cooperation agreements at various levels.

Daniel Rosa said that after the crisis that prevailed in Guinea-Bissau, the people of Angola and its President José Eduardo dos Santos expressed satisfaction at the fact that Guineans have managed to overcome the hard times they have experienced.

On the other hand, the Angolan ambassador congratulated the military authorities on high sense of responsibility and freedom they demonstrated during the critical moments in Guinea-Bissau.
