The 7/1/07 airing of "Fighting For Justice" dealt with the under discussed, under reported subject of rape.
Rape is a high moral, social and legal injustice. There can never be enough discussion, disclosure nor activism done about this subject. PLEASE, IF YOU HAVE BEEN THE VICTIM OF RAPE OR IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN, BE PROACTIVE BY:
1) CARING ENOUGH TO JOIN IN ON THE HEALING PROCESS.
2) SHARING INFORMATION ON HOW TO HEAL AND HOW TO DEAL WITH PERPETRATORS, PERSONALLY, PROFESSIONALLY AND LEGALLY.
3) EXPOSING PERPETRATORS BY REPORTING THEM TO AUTHORITIES, THE COMMUNITIES THAT HOLD THEM IN HIGH REGARD AND/OR SIMPLY BY SHARING YOUR EXPRIENCE WITH A POTENTIAL VICTIM OF THE PERPETRATOR.
There are many types of under-reported sexual assault that the general public knows little about. Our guest Serena Sebring of UBUNTU spoke about the sexual assault of Sex Workers (women and men who work in the adult entertainment industry), last week. There are also Adult Victims of Clergy Abuse (adult women who have been abused by Pastors, Priests, Bishops, etc.).

INDN is said to be the only grassroots political organization devoted to recruiting and electing Native American candidates and mobilizing the Indian Vote throughout America on behalf of those candidates.
Free became the youngest lawyer ever hired by the U.S. Department of Justice after graduating from law school. During her 10 years there, she served as senior counsel in the Indian Resources Section, where she supervised environmental litigation throughout American Indian country.
She returned to Southeastern Oklahoma where she became the first woman elected District Attorney of Pittsburg and Haskell Counties, making victim's rights, domestic violence and child abuse top priorities.
**PASTORAL ABUSE
"Pastoral abuse--pastors engaging in sexual or romantic relationships with their parishioners or counsels--is much more prevalent than is commonly supposed. Estimates exceed the 10 percent figure Rutter ascribes to male psychotherapists.
"The abuse often is seen by parishioners and denominational executives as something else.... A single pastor relating inti- mately with a single parishioner is typically seen as an acceptable and time-honored practice. I argue, however, that such intimate relating is always an unethical boundary violation and that it is always the pastor's responsibly to maintain the appropriate boundaries. As with rape, a pastor's sexual or romantic involvement with a parishioner is not primarily a matter of sex or sexuality but of power and control. For this reason I call it pastoral sexual abuse rather than "pastor-parishioner relations" or, worse, a matter of private activity between consenting adults (which is almost always how the perpetrator will describe it).... I have found that ministers enter into romantic or sexual relationships with parishioners primarily because there is an imbalance of power between them at the outset and because they need ! to reinforce and heighten the intensi!

ty of that power dynamic....
"....WHY SHOULD these relationships be considered abuse? If both the minister and the parishioner are single (usually not the case), what's wrong with their having a relationship? As Fortune has outlined, there can be no authentic consent in a relationship involving unequal power.
