CAIRO, July 16— Cuban President Raúl Castro Ruz arrived in this city late on Thursday where he will continue his visit to Egypt after attending the 15th Non-Aligned Movement Summit.
In the morning, Raúl had bilateral meetings with Nguyen Minh Triet, president of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, and Mahinda Rajapaksa, president of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
The pleasant exchange between Raúl and Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet confirmed the strong fraternity existing between the nations of Vietnam and Cuba, as well as the intention to continue extending links between the two countries in the political, economic and other spheres. The two presidents also coincided in their assessments of diverse international issued covered in their talks.
Cordiality and mutual respect also predominated in the meeting between Raúl and Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa. They discussed issues related to bilateral relations, an area in which the two leaders expressed an interest in promoting. Their discussion on the current international situation focused on issues that are of particular concern to the nations of the South and, in particular, the role of the Non-Aligned Movement.
