Brazil To Boost Agriculture In Ghana

The Brazilian Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Lvis Fernando Serra has said that his country is ready to partner government to boost and strengthen its agricultural sector in order to increase its export to Brazil which is currently low.
He noted that the Ghanaian market is the largest market for Brazil and was hopeful that Ghana will increase her exports to his country to change the current tread, adding that Brazil has not bought any Shea butter from Ghana and that rice, as well as Shea butter projects will be built by the end of the year.
Mr. Fernando Serra said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Honourable Nii Armah Ashietey at his office today.
“These projects will further strengthen Ghana and Brazil as development partners,” he said, noting that agricultural is very important in the development of every country and that critical attention must be given to it.
According to the Brazilian Ambassador, two-hundred (200) tractors and some buses will be delivered to help develop and also, promote the agric sector respectively.
Commenting on the recent rise of arm robbery cases in the country, the Ambassador said, security is an important tool in the development of the country and that the police commanders, as well as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) have done very well in combating arm robbery in the country.
Honourable Nii Ashietey said, the Regional Coordinating Council is supervising ten districts under decentralisation which is key to Ghana’s development.
“The assemblies provide the enabling environment for business such as agricultural, finance, industrial, health and also ensure that projects undertaken are successfully implemented,” the Minister noted.
Honourable Nii Ashietey stressed that there is the need for Ghanaian farmers to shift from peasant farming to mechanised farming. This he added, will promote food security in the country and also create more jobs.
The Minister, therefore, thanked the Ambassador and encouraged him to invest more in the Agricultural sector for the development of the people.
