Free Ahlam M. Mohsen: Demonstration Friday to Support Michigan Antiwar Activist Held on $250,000 Bond

Ahlam M. Mohsen is currently being held in Big Rapids, Michigan on $250,000 bond for protesting United States Sen. Carl Levin's support for the State of Israel. She is an antiwar activist. MECAWI is demanding her immediate release.

Free Ahlam M. Mohsen and Drop All Charges Against Antiwar Activist in Big Rapids

The Michigan Emergency Committee Against War & Injustice (MECAWI) will hold a press conference and demonstration at U.S. Senator Carl Levin's office Friday, August 20 at 12:30 p.m. to demand all charges against anti-war protester and student Ms. Ahlam M. Mohsen be dropped immediately.

MECAWI, along with other progressive organizations, will then have a delegation present a statement to Sen. Levin that demands he contact the Big Rapids prosecutor's office and demand all charges against Ms. Mohsen be dropped immediately.

Ms. Mohsen and two others were protesting U.S. support for Israel and the wars in the Iraq and Afghanistan. After one person in the group read a statement to Sen. Levin explaining their opposition to U.S. imperialism, Mohsen hit Levin with a pie.

Ms. Mohsen told the Big Rapids Pioneer she hoped “to send a message that liberals and Democrats are just as implicated in the violence (of war) as the Republicans.”
