Taliban insurgents attack Jalalabad airport
Taliban insurgents have attacked the airport in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad and a military outpost nearby, officials say.
Witnesses said they heard explosions and saw smoke rising in the area.
International forces in Afghanistan (Isaf) later said that eight insurgents had been killed.
A Taliban spokesman was quoted by Reuters news agency as saying that 14 suicide bombers had been involved in the attack.
