This year’s African American History Month event will be a special tribute to the life and legacy of Patrice Lumumba, the first elected Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, a freedom fighter who was martyred on Jan. 17, 1961, some five decades ago.
In light of the revolutionary upsurges in Tunisia, Egypt and throughout North Africa and the Middle East, the unfinished business of the independence struggles and the movement towards socialism has re-emerged as a priority for the workers and oppressed throughout the world.
How will these struggles in North Africa impact the consciousness and political program of the workers and oppressed in the United States? How can we build a movement for fundamental social change in alliance with our brothers and sisters on the continent and throughout the region? Come out and hear a working class perspective on developments throughout the world.
