Co-director and producer of “The Day Diplomacy Died”, “Mission Against Terror: The Case of the Cuban 5″ and Radio Havana Cuba correspondent, Ms. Bernie Dwyer is in Detroit as part of a Canadian – U.S. tour.

Only two days before this presentation, Cuba will mark the 50th anniversary of the defeated U.S. invasion at Playa Giron, better known as the “Bay of Pigs invasion.” Lesser known to the public in this country is the covert war waged by the U.S. against Cuba for more than 50 years. The frame-ups and unjust imprisonment of the 5 Cuban political prisoners in the U.S. and the case of Miami CIA-terrorist Posada Carriles – acquitted on April 8 of lying to U.S. immigration officials -- illustrate this. “Human rights” and “democracy” are used as code words for U.S. aggression against Cuba with the “dissidents” movement a tool to undermine the Cuban social system.

This new documentary by Bernie Dwyer and Roberto Ruiz Rebo exposes the story behind the lock up of 75 “independent” journalists, trade unionists, and librarians in Cuba in 2003 through the eyes of four ex-Cuban state agents working undercover.

The mainstream media never fully investigates the role played by diplomats at the U.S. Interests Section in Havana in controlling the “dissidents” movement. In this video former Cuban undercover agents – and U.S. diplomatic perpetrators -- speak out for the first time on film about the inner workings of the dissident groups infiltrated and the various plans, supported by the U.S. government, that were being developed to destabilize Cuba.

Dwyer will be in Detroit in the afternoon of April 18 and morning of April 19 shortly before she returns to her home in Ireland.
