THREE soldiers were reportedly injured in Maiduguri on Wednesday when a bomb hit soldiers who were in a targeted patrol vehicle on Kashim Ibrahim road. The attacks and bombing of the patrol vehicle of Joint Taskforce Operation Restore Order (JTORO) occurred at about 7.00am when traffic on the road was very low.
Speaking on the latest attack on the taskforce by the suspected Boko Haram sect, the commander in Maiduguri, Maj-Gen. Jack Okechukwu Nwaogbo said: “it was at 7am, two suspected bombers threw a bomb at our patrol vehicles at the New Prison. Thank God that none of our soldiers died in the blast. Three soldiers however took cover, but were injured in their arms and legs and taken to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hopital (UMTH) for treatment of wounds sustained from the blasts.”
He said immediately after the bomb blast, the entire five wards adjourning the New Prison in Abagaram ward were condoned off by the policemen and soldiers for thorough search and manhunt of the suspects.
Nwaogbo further disclosed that; “we are able to arrest one prime suspect with some explosive materials; and he will assisted the police and soldiers in identifying other suspects that live in the five wards of Abagaram, Lawan Bukar, Kumshe, Shehuri North and Kawar Maila.”
