Malawi's first female President and Africa's second Joyce Banda is in Liberia to pay an official two-day visit to the west African country from April 28 to 29, 2012.

Joyce Banda travelled to Liberia through South Africa where she had met the president of that country Jacob Zuma and secured a $35 million loan deal to help reduce fuel shortages in Malawi.

In Liberia, Banda is accompanied by her husband, retired Chief Justice of Malawi and Swaziland, Richard Banda; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ephraim Chiume; Minister for Gender Affairs and Social Services, Anita Kalinde; and Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Patrick Kabambe.

According to a Liberian govt (Executive Mansion) release, the President of Malawi and delegation, who arrive from South Africa, were scheduled to be received at Roberts International Airport by her counterpart, Liberian President, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Later in the evening, Mrs. Banda will be presented with the Key to the City of Monrovia by the Acting City Mayor, Madam Mary Broh, before proceeding to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a tête-à-tête with President Sirleaf and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Justice.

Following the closed-door talks, the two Presidents will meet the press at a joint stake-out in the Foyer of the Foreign Ministry. Thereafter, they will proceed to the Monrovia City Hall where President Sirleaf will tender a Dinner in honour of her distinguished guest.
