Pan African Women's Day 2012 Celebrated in Los Angeles

The All African People's Revolutionary Party and its women's wing, the All African Women's Revolutionary Union is hosting "Pan African Women’s Day" (PAWD), to honor and celebrate African women across the Diaspora with a full day of educational and entertainment festivities in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles, CA, July 21, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The All African Women's Revolutionary Union is honored to celebrate Pan African Women’s Day on Saturday, August 11th at the renowned KRST Unity Center of African Spiritual Science in Los Angeles, 7825 South Western Avenue, Los Angeles, from 1pm to 10pm. This PAWD celebratory conference is being led by and for future leaders - the Sister Youth of the local, national and global community. Other PAWD events will be held in Washington DC, Accra Ghana, Bissau West Africa.

Keynote speaker Sister Nusaiba Legacy, youth organizer, mother and cultural artist from New York will present and be honored as featured artist at the Sistas Speaks Concert to conclude the day’s activities. Guests will be welcomed to an educational and enlightening program offering vendors, entertainment and treats for children, and abundance of information from community activists, cultural artists, wellness providers and social scientists to uplift and inspire local Pan African Communities.

This theme reflects the present realities: the African Union (AU) has declared this year the Decade of the African Woman 2010 to 2020. Africa had its first female President elected in 2006 with Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. Sister Waangari Maathai is the first African Woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Several African states have elected women to their parliaments with 48% holding seats in Rwanda to Tanzania and South Africa holding 30% of parliamentary seats. July 2012, South African Minister Dlamina Zuma won the chair position to the African Union.

Join them in honoring African women from South Afrika to South Central at Pan African Women’s Day 2012.
