Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has met with his North Korean counterpart, Pak Ui-chun on the sidelines of the 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran.

Meeting with the North Korean official on Sunday, Salehi referred to Iran’s competence and experience in the fields of economy, industry, commerce, and agriculture, and expressed Tehran’s readiness for the expansion of the bilateral relations in the areas.

Pointing to the sensitivity, characterizing the international affairs and the situation in the region, Pak underlined NAM’s role in resolving the international issues.

The Iranian foreign minister had earlier met with his counterparts from Myanmar and the Comoros.

The 16th summit of NAM member states is held in the Iranian capital from August 26 to 31. Representatives from more than 100 countries have gathered in Tehran for the meeting.

NAM is an international organization with 120 member states that is not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc. Nearly two-thirds of the United Nations member states are also NAM members.
