This week's edition of the Pan-African Journal hosted by Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of the Pan-African News Wire, is now available online. The program begins with a series of reports on some of the most pressing and burning issues of the day.
In the program an extensive focus is placed on the unrest which has continued in the North African state of Egypt where one person was killed and many others were injured outside the presidential palace on Feb. 1. Meanwhile on January 31, talks were held with segments of the National Salvation Front and the government of Mohamed Morsi.
The 40th anniversary of the assassination of Amilcar Cabral has been commemorated around the world. Cabral, born in Cape Verde, was a co-founder of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC), the party which led the mass and armed struggle against the Portuguese colonial authorities then occupying the country.
French President Francois Hollande has visited the former colony and West African state of Mali. France has been bombing and occupying Mali since Jan. 11.
Finally, in occupied Libya, a campaign of harassment of the North African country's Christian population continues under the US-backed General National Congress regime. The bombing of a Coptic Church several months ago and other incidents have forced many Christians to leave the country.
