In light of President Obama’s trip to Africa, we discuss US policy in Africa. Our guests include: Emira Woods, co-director of Foreign Policy In Focus at the Institute for Policy Studies; and Abayomi Azikiwe, Editor of the Pan-African News Wire.
Azikiwe discussed the crisis of international relations between Africa and the United States government. The Obama administration has escalated Pentagon and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) operations on the continent.
The U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) has pledged interventions in at least 35 nation-states on the continent. In addition, Washington and Wall Street are concerned about growing cooperation between African Union member-states and the People's Republic of China as well as other states and countries and regions.
The Pan-African News Wire editor concluded by pointing out the necessity of Africa to consolidate its forces and to form alliances with other states and peoples of the Southern hemisphere.
The Marc Steiner Show is aired over WEAA, 88.9 FM is based in Baltimore at the University of Maryland. The station is an affiliate of National Public Radio.
