Moscow, (SANA)_Information that Russia has blocked a UN Security Council resolution on chemical weapons use in Syria are untrue, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The Ministry said in a statement on Thursday that ''the formula was found that would be unanimously agreed on by the Security Council members and media outlets when met by the current head of the Council, who is Argentina's permanent representative to the UN, to express the view of the Security Council through verbal statements agreed on within the UN Security council.''
''There is a complete misinterpretation of what has been said that Russia has blocked something at the Security Council, which is not true,'' the statement said.
The statement affirmed that there is no such thing as statements by President of the Council addressed to media, clarifying that these are called verbal statements that reflect the viewpoints of the Security Council members, ''and Argentina's permanent representative did just that.''
Current President of the UN Security Council, Maria Cristina Perceva announced Wednesday that the Council members want the truth revealed about an alleged chemical weapons attack in Damascus countryside, welcoming the UN resolve to investigate the case.
There must be clarity on what happened and the situation must be followed closely," Perceval told reporters after a closed-door emergency meeting of the council.
The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces said that biased channels of disinformation and bloodshed have, as they always do, made false allegations that the Syrian Army used chemical weapons in Damascus countryside.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces affirmed that those allegations are completely baseless and untrue, and they are part of the dirty media warfare on Syria.
Lukashevich: Gunmen flow into Syria failed to change situation in favor of "opposition"
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich stressed that flow of gunmen into Syria has failed in changing the situation on the ground in favor of the "opposition".
Lukashevich pointed out in a statement Thursday that the flow of foreign mercenaries into Syria has reached the level which Iraq witnessed between 2005 and 2007.
"The flow of mercenaries has failed in changing the situation in the opposition's favor and the government forces are still in control," he stressed.
The Russian spokesman said Russia counts on the UN commission investigating the allegations of chemical weapons use with which, he reminded, the Syria government has agreed to cooperate to the utmost and offer logistic support to investigate the incident where chemical weapons were used in Khan al-Assal area in Aleppo last March.
He expressed his country's hope that the outcomes of the UN investigation team will help dispel the many allegations and speculations over chemical weapons use, adding that this would provide a positive foundation to move towards launching a political process to settle the crisis in Syria.
Most of the terrorists operating on the Syrian land have come from outside the country and are mostly affiliated to organizations known to be linked to al-Qaeda.
This fact could not be ignored even by Western media as the British Times newspaper revealed that 10 thousand foreign fighters are fighting alongside the armed terrorist groups in Syria. Those include 150 Britons.
