A landslide victory by President Robert Mugabe and the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front Party has posed new problems for the United States government.
Zimbabwe, which is rich in mineral resources, is still being subjected to western sanctions against the Southern African state.
The recently announced agreement over the purported existence of chemical weapons in Syria may lead to a pause in U.S. war threats against the Middle Eastern state. Africa and its experience over the decades has illustrated how internal conflicts can be resolved through regional organizations.
The population of the African continent is scheduled to double by the mid-21st century. This is significant in light of the overall population decline among Europeans on their continent and among whites in North America.
Finally, the People's Republic of China is enhancing its partnership with African media outlets throughout the continent. China is now Africa's largest trading partner and this is causing consternation in the imperialist countries, mainly the U.S.
In the last half of the program we feature the U.S. correspondent for the Zimbabwe Herald, Obi Egbuna, in the second part of an interview on developments in Southern Africa.
