SOMALIA: Parliamentarians oppose PM’s new cabinet

Members of the Federal Parliament of Somalia have criticized in what they said “unbalanced nomination” of the new cabinet announced by Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed on Friday, RBC Radio reports.
Legislators have been repeatedly vowing that they will reject the vote of confidence against the new cabinet if the members of the former cabinet return to the new government, a call which Prime Minister Abdiweli has much worried over the past weeks.
“It is unfair nomination which ignores the country’s power sharing formula.” Said MP Mohamed Omar Dalha.
Dalha said that the Parliament will not sit and watch as these bad things are happening and that they will hold accountable to the cabinet as well as the Prime Minister.
Another MP Mohamed Mareeye said that the new cabinet will bring nothing new as members of the former ousted government were favored with ministerial positions.
“The Prime Minister seems that he was not given freedom to form his ministers which is clear violation against the country’s constitution.” MP Mareeye added.
Late on Friday, Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed has unveiled his long waited council of minister with 55 members. Two of the new vice ministers immediately declared their resignation.
