Outgoing UN official Meets VP Mujuru

The United Nations has pledged to continue working with Zimbabwe to foster socio-economic development. Outgoing UN resident co-ordinator Mr Alain Noudehou made the pledge yesterday when he bad farewell to Vice President Cde Joice Mujuru at her Munhumutapa offices in Harare yesterday.
He has completed his tour of duty.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Mr Noudehou said he discussed with VP Mujuru about the UN’s work in Zimbabwe in the past four years.
“Our engagement in Zimbabwe has covered many different areas including health, education, support of the constitution making process, economic planning and developing programmes in the country,” he said.
“This was the opportunity to meet the Vice President to go over the broad engagement and commitment we had when I first arrived. We had a very positive discussion and we look forward to continue working with Zimbabwe. Our office here will continue with what we have engaged. I am completely satisfied with the progress we have made and I am sure Zimbabwe will continue on this path to a full recovery and economic development.”
Mr Noudehou had been working in Zimbabwe for the past four years and has been re-assigned to China.
He said his experience in Zimbabwe had been good.
The UN has also worked on achieving equality for women and girls to ensure progress and economic growth in developing countries.
