Communist Party (SACP).
24 April 2014

NEHAWU in the Western Cape supports the South African Communist Party (SACP), Western Cape’s Chris Hani mass march to the provincial legislature tomorrow, 25 April 2014.We call on all our members to join the march in their droves in order to ensure that the silenced voices of the poor majority are heard in the province.

This march is meant to celebrate and commemorate the sacrifices made by Comrade Chris Hani, and also highlight the dreadful situation that still confronts the majority of people in the Western Cape. The DA led administration is still propagating colonial and apartheid era policies of segregation and racial discrimination.

Working class communities have been economically isolated and have fallen deeper into poverty. The gap between the haves and the have not’s has widened and more people still live without clean water and sanitation. The available resources are spent on the rich and the DA is pursuing policies that have dumped the poor and instead focused its attention and funding on maintaining the already established wealthy districts. The DA led administration is ashamed of the poor people of Cape Town and sometimes refers to them as refugees. The poor will not be silenced nor ignored.

The details of the march are as follows:

Date : Friday 25 April 2014

Time : 10h00

Venue : Kaizergraght Street -Provincial Legislature.
All members of the media are invited to the press conference.
