Israeli war jets carried out several airstrikes early Thursday, targeting training facilities that belong to the Islamic Hamas movement in northern Gaza Strip and Gaza city, security officials said.
Officials in Gaza said several explosions damaged northern and central Gaza Strip as well as eastern and western Gaza city. Israeli jets hovered over the coastal enclave before carrying out the strikes, reports DPA.
Training camps and bases that belong to Islamic Hamas movement's armed wing al-Qassam Brigades were targeted, officials said. Ambulances and firefighters rushed to the scenes.
Gaza emergency chief Ashraf al-Qedra told reporters that at least one Palestinian was moderately injured and was taken to Shifa Hospital in Gaza city.
The Israeli jets and helicopters have been carrying out nightly strikes on Hamas militant targets following the firing of rockets into Israel from the enclave.
No one claimed responsibility for the rockets. However, Israel held Hamas responsible for the attacks.
Violence between Israel and the Palestinians mounted over the past six days since Israel's announcement that three Israeli teenagers had been kidnapped by Palestinian militants in the West Bank.
Israel has directly accused Hamas for being involved in the kidnapping, and cracked down on the movement in the West Bank and detained more than 200 of its leaders, ex-prisoners and lawmakers.
Hamas leaders, who did not deny or confirm their movement's involvement in the kidnapping, warned Israel over escalating its crackdown on the movement in the West Bank.
