Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, president of the Councils of State and Ministers received, on the afternoon of June 2, the Honorable Mohamed Abdelaziz, president of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), who is on a working visit to the country.

The fraternal meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the historic relations of friendship which exist between the two nations and Cuba’s support to a fair, definitive solution to the issue of Western Sahara, in a way which guarantees the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination. President Abdelazis reiterated his country’s gratitude for the solidarity shown by the Cuban people. International issues of mutual interest were also discussed.

The distinguished visitor was accompanied by Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, minister of Foreign Affairs, and Melainine Etkana, ambassador for the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic in Cuba. Cuba was also represented at the meeting by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez.
