Hamas' armed wing claims responsibility for shelling of Ben Gurion airport, killing of 8 Israeli soldiers in Gaza city
Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, have claimed responsibility for the bombardment of Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv with two M75 rockets.
Hamas' armed wing said in a military statement on Thursday that its fighters had managed to sneak behind Israeli troops stationed in the Tuffah neighbourhood of Gaza City to kill eight Israeli soldiers and destroy a troopship with an RPG-29 rocket.
Al-Qassam Brigades also said they had hit an Israel tank with a bomb in Khan Yunis and that its fighters were engaged in fierce fighting with Israeli occupation forces in Beit Hanoun on the northeast edge of the Gaza Strip.
The death toll in Israel's offensive in Gaza rose to 738 on Thursday as Israeli tank fire before dawn killed 16 people in the coastal territory, including six members of the same family, Palestinian health officials said.
Israel has lost 32 soldiers in addition to 250 injured during clashes inside Gaza and with Hamas fighters who have slipped across the fortified frontier in tunnels.
