SOMALIA: Puntland President Pardons 120 Prisoners Due to Eidul Fitr Celebrations

Garowe (RBC) The President of Somalia’s Semi-autonomous State of Puntland Dr Abdiweli Miamed Ali Gaas has today extended his official pardoning to 120 prisoners in the Puntland prisons including Garowe and Bosasso,
President Gaas has declared the presidential pardon after he attended the Eid Prayers in Garowe Football Stadium in Garowe, the capital of the Puntland State of Somalia.
“As this month is the symbol of forgiveness, compassionate and joy, I have extended presidential pardoning to 120 prisoners,” President Abdiweli Gaas said.
“I hope these prisoners were not the dangerous ones, and I hope they will avail this opportunity to integrate into their people and start new life,” he added.
Somalis in Somalia have today started to celebrate the first day of Eidul Fitr which stated on Monday ending the Ramadan Month.
