SOMALIA: Military Operation Commences in Central Somalia Regions

(RBC) Somalia National Army backed by the African Union Forces [AMISOM] commenced with a heavy military offensive against Al Shabab in central Somalia region on Sunday amid major military move to secure the country.
According to RBC Radio reporter in Beledweyn, the joint forces moved from Buloburte town of Hiran region on their way toward Burane village in the Middle Shabelle region where Al Shabab fighters recently blocked from the access of commercial and aid transportation.
Hiran Governor Abdifatah Hassan has confirmed the operation and said that the joint forces will liberate the rest of the region remaining under Al Shabab’s control.
“We are aiming to restore the access of the restricted districts and remove the roadblocks set by Al Shabab to deny the lives of the people, so that the citizens can have access to life.” he told RBC Radio on the phone.
Another contingent from AMISOM’s Ethiopian contingent moved from Elbur town in Galgadud region on Sunday morning towards the areas still controlled by the militant groups, regional officer told RBC Radio on the phone.
There were no clashes reported yet between the joint forces and the Al Shabab fighters as the fresh military movements commenced this morning.
The operation started a day after Somalia’s Military Chief announced the start of fresh operations to open the access of the towns and districts blocked by Al Shabab in the central and southern parts of the country.
SOMALIA: Mogadishu’s security seems recovering following the disarmament operations

RBC (Mogadishu) Security in Mogadishu has been recovering where terror attacks in the capital has been foiled, after the current federal government has taken a corrective measure in security agencies and commenced its disarmament operations in the city.
Somali government troops and African Union troops have started making heavy security patrols in the capital, increasing their presence in the main streets in Mogadishu, unlike before.
In the past few month, terror attacks in Mogadishu has seemed at highest level since the Somali islamist militants were driven out of Mogadishu, carrying out well-planned attacks on the presidential palace as well as the Parliament house.
Somali government has approved the disarmament bill which led the security agencies to make heavy disarmament operations on former warlords.
However the city’s overall security has seem recovering after joint forces in Mogadishu are ordered to double their peace-keeping operations in the capital.
