MPLA Official Stresses Women’s Contribution to Liberation Struggle
Luanda - The secretary general of the ruling MPLA party, Julião Mateus Paulo "Dino Matrosse," Monday, in Luanda, highlighted the contribution of Angolan women to the national liberation struggle, the achievement of peace and the consolidation of national unity for development of Angola.

The politician was speaking during the commemorating act of the National Day of Angolan women, held at the "February 4" landmark, in Cazenga district, in Luanda, under the event of "March Women" taking place under the motto "Angolan woman in firm retrieval of moral values."

Julião Mateus Paulo stressed that one of the notable figures of the Angolan women participation in the struggle against the occupation and against Portuguese colonialism was Njinga Mbandi, the celebrated queen who resisted the troops on the battlefield for about three decades against colonial oppression.

He also praised the achievements of the heroines Deolinda Rodrigues and her four companions, namely, Engracia Paim, Irene Cohen, Lucrecia dos Santos and Teresa Afonso, arrested on March 2, 1967 and later killed by the enemy.

He said that OMA, as the largest socio-political women's organization of Angola, has contributed considerably to the approval of various diplomas for the Family, equal opportunities, promotion and development of women in many aspects of political, economic, social and cultural life.
