Outsourced workers have gathered outside the senate house at the University of Witwatersrand, to meet with Prof Adam Habib to discuss their grievances.

Some students at Wits continue to block the university entrance saying that they reject the nine point plan, and they want outsourced workers to be heard, but a majority of students proceed with academic activities as planned to resume on Wednesday.

Meanwhile the university has on Wednesday dismissed allegations that part of the university was set alight on Tuesday night.

Wits Spokesperson Shirona Patel says two vehicles and tyres were burned close to the bookshop, but no building was on fire at Wits’ Braamfontein campus.

Patel says the university is looking into the case and that students who were around at the time of the fire will be questioned.

” We looking at our CCTV cameras and students who were around will be questioned.” said Patel.

The university has beefed up security in order to allow the day’s activity to continue as usual as classes are set to resume on Wednesday.

So far no injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made.
