Relations between the two countries are developing dynamically and cooperation in Syria marks a pivotal point, which is meaningful not only for bilateral relations
MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. Relations between Russia and Iran are on the rise and cooperation between the two countries on the Syrian problem may change the future destiny of the region, Iranian Justice Minister Mostafa Pourmohammadi said on Thursday as he met with the Deputy Speaker of the upper house of Russian parliament, Ilyas Umakhanov.
Relations between the two countries are developing dynamically and cooperation in Syria marks a pivotal point, which is meaningful not only for bilateral relations.
"It’ll change the destiny of the whole region," Pourmohammadi said. "With God’s help will make it impossible for the Western countries, including the U.S., to manipulate with it. We also hope we’ll be able to clear the region of the terrorist aggression."
Pourmohammadi also believes the regional peoples - the Syrians, the Iraqis, the Yemenis, and the Palestinians - could determine their destinies on their own and he urged international organizations to respect their choice.
"This (heeding these countries’ choice - TASS) would be democratic, up to date, and standing in line with the notion of human rights, civil rights and the right to self-determination," Pourmohammadi said. "This is the kind of logic that should be developed."
Ilyas Umakhanov said on his part that God had created all the people equal and if America has the right to choosing, the other peoples should have it, too.
"We must act in a way what would assure an equitable world based on respect for the principles of international law," he said. "This right should be guaranteed for all the nations because this will be only fair.".
