Armed Command Assaults Iranian Organization in Somalia
Mogadishu, Jan 12 (Prensa Latina) A command of unidentified armed men raided the headquarters of an Iranian humanitarian organization based in Somalia, said Somali security spokesman Mohamed Hassan.
The attackers withdrew from the place with computer equipment and digital storage, among other devices located in the complex, said the source. This action happens at less than a week after Somalia broke diplomatic relations with Tehran, highlights the Mogadishu Times newspaper.
Several days ago the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia accused Iranian diplomats accredited in Mogadishu, of interference in internal affairs of the country.
Somalia aligned as well along with other Nations with Saudi Arabia in the rupture of relations with Iran, when Iranian demonstrators attacked the Saudi Arabian Embassy in the Persian country.
The trigger for these events was the announcement by Riad at the beginning of this year of the execution of the renowned Shiite cleric Nimr to the Nimrun, and 46 others, including several members of the Al-Qaeda network.
This event led to protests in Iran that resulted in the burning of the Saudi Embassy in Tehran, and a Consulate in the city of Mashhad.
