Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers of the Republic of Cuba, received Alicia Bárcena Ibarra, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), this Thursday afternoon, during a visit to the island.

During the cordial meeting, they exchanged views on the excellent existing cooperation between Cuba and ECLAC and their readiness to continue strengthening this. They also talked about other issues of regional and international interest. The senior UN official expressed satisfaction at being able to contribute to the process of updating the Cuban economic model.

Accompanying the distinguished visitor was Aníbal Severino Rodríguez.

Participating on the Cuban side were Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla and Rodrigo Malmierca, ministers of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and Investment, respectively.
