President Muhammadu Buhari has assured that his administration is working very hard to stabilise the power situation in the country, saying Nigeria has the required resources and technology to do that. He spoke at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday during a joint press conference with the visiting Togolese president, Faure Gnassingbe.

“I made mention to President of Benin; we’ve power problem and Benin has power problem because they depend on us...The resources are available, the technology is available. We’re trying to stabilise the situation. If ‎we improve power, which means our productivity can be competitive, and God willing, we’re going to achieve our objectives.

“They say seeing is believing, you can see the efforts the private investor is making. We are also building pipelines, but it is not as formidable as what Dangote is doing. We are improving on it. We also have the NLNG that is helping us to liquefy the gas and then turn it into gas with modern technology and modern technology is making it flexible,” he said.

Buhari said he and Gnassingbe also discussed the crises in South Sudan and Burundi which he described as agonising.

Responding, Gnassingbe said he was impressed by the investment of the Dangote Group which he noted was enhancing socio-economic integration and promoting trade among African nations.
