1633: Meanwhile, the political parties under NERA held a press conference in which they said that they plan to hold another demonstration next Friday to compensate for today’s failed one. NERA spokesperson Mr Didymus Mutasa said they will continue holding demonstrations to force an early election. We hereby end our live updates.
1529: There are now running battles between the protestors and police at the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) offices in downtown Harare.
1357: Vending stalls at Copacabana Bus Terminus have been burnt.
1238: The Harare Agricultural Show Zimoco gate has been closed while Gate 8 is operational.However, it’s business as usual inside the Exhibition Park. The Harare Magistrates’ Court has been closed.
1232: Meanwhile, Douglas Mwonzora and Nelson Chamisa have arrived. Mwonzora announces that the High Court has granted them an order for the demonstration to go ahead. He urged the supporters not to provoke the police.
Police then dispersed protestors who had gathered again at Robert Mugabe Square. They are now stoning cars along Rotten Row.
1225: Protestors who had gathered at the Robert Mugabe Square to prepare for the National Electoral Reform Agenda (NERA) march were dispersed earlier today as police were yet to receive the High Court order allowing the demonstration.
Running battles ensued with protestors throwing stones while the police retaliated by firing teargas along Rotten Row and Kaguvi Street. Prisoners who had come to court had to be escorted back to the remand prison as a result of the disturbances.
