Regional Cuba Solidarity Brigade to Honor Fidel
The Latin American and Caribbean Solidarity with Cuba Brigade will celebrate the leader of the Cuban Revolution’s 90th birthday

Artemisa.— The Latin American and Caribbean Solidarity with Cuba Brigade, which arrived yesterday, August 1, at the Julio Antonio Mella International Camp in Caimito, is visiting the island to celebrate the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz’s 90th birthday, among other activities.
Chanting slogans of support for the Cuban leader, some of the brigade’s 16 delegations, including those from Mexico and Ecuador, presented a document to the Cuban people, recognizing their resistance in the face of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for over half a century.
Speaking to brigade members, Fernando González Llort, vice president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) and decorated Hero of the Republic of Cuba, reported that participants will meet and speak with different sectors of Cuban society in Artemisa, Santa Clara, and Havana, to learn more about the island’s reality.
He also noted that the Brigade is one of over 2,000 solidarity associations from 153 nations which currently have links with ICAP, and thanked participants for their help spreading the truth about the country, which is subject to a defamatory media campaign.
The Brigade’s visit which will extend through August 14, includes voluntary work at agricultural sites in Caimito, explained Adrián Ortega, first secretary of the Party in the territory, who also noted that the area is known as the Capital of Cuba Solidarity, given the many friends who have visited.
Maudelio de la Riva from Mexico stated that he enjoys the opportunity to speak with different brigade members from other parts of the world who also consider the island an example to follow.
Cristian Mora, a young Ecuadorian, speaking to the Cuban News Agency (ACN) agreed, noting that he will share details of his experience in Cuba with his fellow compatriots when he returns to his country.
