At least four Pentagon troops were killed in combat operations recently in the West African state of Niger. Azikiwe notes that this process has been escalating since the formation of the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) in 2008.
Under the administrations of George Bush, Barack Obama and now Donald Trump the number of troops continue to increase which will inevitably lead to more combat deaths and consequent destabilization on the African continent.
