Head of DPRK Delegation Speaks at UNIDO General Conference
The head of the delegation of the DPRK made a speech at the 17th session of the General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) held in Vienna, Austria on November 28.

He said that not a few practices of economic inequality, unemployment and poverty still remain in the world and they arise as a very dangerous social problem among developing countries being pushed out of the "globalization" whose process has become deepened.

Some specified countries are violating the sovereignty and rights to development of developing countries incurring their displeasure and blocking their socio-economic development with sanctions and pressure, he noted, adding:

The present situation on the Korean peninsula is a typical example.

The hostile forces are disregarding the legitimate step for self-defence of a sovereign state and imposing the harshest and inhumane sanctions upon its civilian industry and people's living under the pretence of implementing "sanctions resolution" of the UN Security Council.

Such indiscriminate sanctions and economic blockade should be no longer allowed as they are threatening the vital rights of an individual country and laying artificial hurdles in the way for sound and sustained development of the region.

All the facts more urgently require the UNIDO to create circumstances and conditions favourable for guaranteeing the inclusive and sustained industrial development of developing countries and serve as a practical companion able to fully satisfy the member nations' needs for development.

Now the Korean people, under the wise guidance of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, are bravely tiding over all the challenges on the way of advance for building a rich and powerful nation and working unprecedented miracles in the struggle to implement the five-year strategy for national economic development set forth at the Seventh Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, the head of the delegation said, and went on:

It is the constant stand of the DPRK government to provide the people with the most plentiful and civilized life by giving definite priority to science and technology and enlisting the potentials of the independent economy to the maximum.

The DPRK will as ever strengthen the relations of friendship and cooperation with the UNIDO and all its member nations in conformity with its foreign policy based on independence, peace and friendship, and actively join in the international efforts for development and prosperity common to mankind.
