The program features our regular PANW report with dispatches on the New Year's message delivered by Republic of Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa who pledged jobs and prosperity for 2018; President Jacob Zuma of the Republic of South Africa has spoke to the nation with his New Year's message advocating radical economic transformation for the coming year; opposition protesters clashed with police in the Democratic Republic of Congo demanding the resignation of President Joseph Kabila; and Africa is bracing for retaliation after the vote against the United States in the United Nations General Assembly opposing the move of the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

In the second hour we listen to the acceptance speech of African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa at the conclusion of the National Elective Conference held in South Africa earlier this month.

Finally we hear from the ANC Women's League leadership in the aftermath of the NEC.
