Cuba Rejects Coercion
Cuba’s National Assembly of People's Power International Relations Committee condemns a European Parliament resolution as a new step in the escalation against Venezuelan and denounces false accusations spread by the U. S. government alleging the presence of Cuban security forces in this sister country

On April 8, Cuba’s National Assembly of People's Power International Relations Committee issued a statement condemning a resolution recently approved by the European Parliament entitled: "On the emergency situation in Venezuela."
The statement notes that the European resolution constitutes a new step in the escalation against the constitutional government of President Nicolás Maduro Moros and the Venezuelan people who are defending their legitimate right to construct their own future without foreign interference, and that slanderous and unacceptable references to Cuba "echo false accusations spread by representatives of the United States government concerning the alleged presence of Cuban security forces and agents in Venezuela, controlling the Venezuelan government and participating in intimidation and repression."
The declaration recalls the humanitarian nature of Cuban cooperation with other countries, including Venezuela, where over 20,000 Cuban collaborators work, 96% in health care and the rest in areas such as education, sports, culture, and agriculture.
"Associating this cooperation with actions that violate the principles of international law, including respect for sovereignty and non-intervention in the internal affairs of states, is irresponsible and immoral," the statement reads.
The International Relations Standing Committee reiterates “its adherence to the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace and the intention to continue developing relations with the European Union and all its institutions, without conditions and on the basis of equality, reciprocity, and mutual respect.
”Likewise, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla affirmed, on his Twitter account, that U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton has resurrected the infamous Memorandum written by Lester Mallory, 59 years after it was issued, and surpasses it in terms of brutality, in imposing the Monroe Doctrine, and promoting McCarthyism"Cuba rejects the coercion," said Rodriguez Parrilla, sharing an excerpt from the memorandum of April 6, 1960, in which then U.S. undersecretary of State Lester Mallory said that the only way to end the Cuban people’s support for their revolutionary government was "to provoke disappointment and discouragement through economic dissatisfaction and hardship," and toward this end, all means should be used to weaken the country’s economic life, to provoke hunger and despair.
The Foreign Minister has recently denounced the escalation of hostile actions on the part of the U.S. government, which is again promoting the Monroe Doctrine, and condemned Washington’s economic sabotage and piracy in Venezuela, to destabilize the country and take possession of its resources.
Given the failure of U.S. attempts to provoke regime change, he said, "Washington resorts to shameless lies to justify its increasingly aggressive behavior" and that the slanders regarding Cuba are outrageous.
