Putin Links Gaza to Multipolar World: ‘Russia is Bulwark for Those Who Fight for Freedom’

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday that what is happening in Gaza at the moment is a “collective punishment” of civilians that is “absolutely not justifiable.”

In his televised comments, as part of a government meeting in Moscow, Putin said that the “ruling elite of the US and its satellites” are behind the current conflict in the Middle East and other places around the world.

These efforts are aimed to sow chaos and prevent the rise of a multipolar world order, he added.

Putin reiterated Russia’s position on the war in Gaza. There can only be peace with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, he was cited by RT and other Russian media as saying. 

Putin argued that Russia is not just leading the effort to create a truly multipolar world of sovereign countries, but literally fighting for it on the battlefields of Ukraine. 

He was cited by RT as saying that “Russia is the bulwark for all of those who fight for their independence and freedom, against those who spread chaos and conflict and their ‘useful idiots’.”

Israel has, thus far, killed over 8,300 Palestinians in Gaza, including 3,457 children, and wounded more than 21,000. Palestinian Ministry of Health reports and international organizations say that the majority of those killed and wounded are women and children.

Despite a massive Israeli military buildup around the Gaza borders and sporadic infiltrations on the outskirts of the besieged Strip, Palestinian Resistance continues to repel Israeli attacks.

To justify its military failure, the Israeli army continues to pound civilian homes throughout the Gaza Strip with new massacres reported everywhere in the besieged enclave.

Gaza has been under a tight Israeli military siege since 2007, following a democratic election in occupied Palestine, the results of which were rejected by Tel Aviv and Washington.
