The Israeli army admitted that one of its military helicopters had been hit in a direct strike by Palestinian Resistance air defenses on Saturday.

Palestinians do not have an air defense system unlike Israel, which has acquired, with the help of Washington, one of the most sophisticated air defense systems, known as the Iron Dome.

This is why the shooting of the helicopter by Al-Qassam Brigades is an important development.

Social media videos have circulated for days showing more than one Israeli Air Force plane, mostly helicopters and drones, being struck by Qassam rocket-propelled grenades.

This is, however, the first time that the Israeli army revealed the authenticity of the news.

Israeli Channel 13 has earlier reported on the targeting of the military helicopter  even showing photos of the burned aircraft.

Israeli media say that a number of military paratrooper unit soldiers were onboard.

In a separate but related development, Al-Qassam Brigades, the fighting arm of the Hamas movement, said in a statement today that “Our mujahideen crossed the separation fence east of Khan Yunis (in the southern Gaza Strip), attacked the enemy and destroyed three military vehicles.”

This indicates that Palestinian resistance is still able to penetrate the fence region and strike direct hits inside Israel.
