ANC President Jacob Zuma has hailed the longevity of the ANC to its ability to adapt to different situations at different times.

"It has a capacity to foresee a coming situation and prepare for it, that's why it's produced many giant leaders," says President Zuma.

He was addressing a gala dinner to mark the 99th birthday of the ANC. In his speech, President Zuma recounted the contributions of various leaders through various phases of the ANC.

To put his message across, President Zuma quoted from previous ANC leaders such as Makgatho, Gumede, Xuma, Seme, Luthuli, Tambo and Mandela, all inspiring the ANC of today.

"It is a movement handled with care by great leaders....anyone who thinks he's better that the ANC never succeeds. They will always be in trouble, the trouble will further deepen," President Zuma added.

Meanwhile, President Zuma will later address thousands of ANC supporters at Peter Mokaba stadium today to mark the 99th celebrations of the organisations.

This will be the start of year-long celebrations which will culminate in the centenary of the organisation next year in Bloemfontein. He will also use the January address to indicate his party's priorities for the year ahead.
