Discussion Leader: Abayomi Azikiwe

Please come out to the ongoing Detroit Marxism Classes when this week, Sat., Aug. 6, from 5:00-7:00pm, we will read and discuss this classic work by the leader of the Bolshevik Party and the Russian Revolution. This book was written in 1916 during the First World War and provides excellent source material on the development of the banking industry which today is the main source of the world financial crisis.

In Detroit within the context of our mass work we have pointed out repeatedly over the last few years the central role of the financial institutions in the worsening crisis of underdevelopment and devastation of the city, once the industrial hub of the world.

Chapter II of this book chronicles the growth and concentration of wealth within the banking sector under capitalism, the merging of manufacturing and banking and the eventual dominance of international finance capital.

The discussion leader, Abayomi Azikiwe, is currently the editor of the Pan-African News Wire and a contributing editor for Workers World weekly newspaper published in New York.

Reading materials for the class will be made available for those who come.
