Sudan: Armed Forces Repulse SPLM-North Attack Against Moraib Area in South Kordufan, Inflict Them With Heavy Loss

Khartoum — The Armed Forces announced the repulsion of an attack by the rebels of the Sudan People Liberation Movement - North (SPLM- North) against Al-Moraib area, some 29 Km West to Al-Abbasiya in South Kordofan, inflecting them heavy loss in lives.
In this regard, the Spokesman of the Armed Forces, Col. Asawarmi Khalid Sa'ad said in a statement to SUNA that the rebels of the SPLM-North in South Kordufan until the morning of Friday 24 August had been terrorizing and intimidating the secured citizens and cut the road linking Al-Abbasiya and Abu Gibaiha and attacked the sanctuary and proprieties of innocent citizens and later entered into the village of Al-Moraib, some 29 Km West to Al-Abbasiya area and desecrated the Mosque of the village.
"Accordingly, the Armed Forces moved towards Al-Moraib area and clashed with the rebels and drove them outside the area," explained Col. Sa'ad, adding that the Armed Forces then carried out a wide combing operation starting from Abu Karshola to Um Baraka, Al-Unainan and Al-Farasha areas where they succeeded to remove and to destroy all the resistances of the rebels and killed 11 elements.
The Spokesman of the Armed Forces explained that the SPLM-North, in revenge, attacked the Armed Forces in Al-Moraib area two times in a bid to recapture the area but the Armed Forces have repulsed them and inflicted them with more 17 deaths while one person was Martyred and 9 other injured from the side of the Armed Forces.
