The Secretary-General of the Lebanese resistance movement of Hezbollah, Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah has condemned the new wave of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, and lashed out at the West for its support for the Tel Aviv regime.
The bloodshed “in the Gaza [Strip] showed the true face of [the United States of] America and the West,” Nasrallah said in a televised speech in Beirut on Thursday.
He urged Muslim countries to sever all forms of relations with the US and to cut oil exports to that country in protest to Washington’s support for the Israeli regime and its policies.
Nasrallah also called for an immediate end to the ongoing siege of the Gaza Strip and demanded that the Gazans be helped.
The Hezbollah secretary general went on to say that Israel is taking revenge for its losses in Syria and other parts of the Middle East by attacking the coastal enclave.
He called on the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to explore all available means in order to pressure Washington and Tel Aviv to stop the recent Israeli aggression against Gazans.
Nasrallah hailed the Palestinian resistance against the latest waves of Israeli attacks and urged Muslims to throw their weight behind Palestinians in their battle in the Gaza Strip.
At least 21 people have been killed and over 160 others injured in the new wave of attacks on the costal sliver, which started on Wednesday.
The Israeli military frequently carries out airstrikes and other attacks on Gaza Strip, saying the actions are being conducted for defensive purposes. However, in violation of international law, disproportionate force is always used and civilians are often killed or injured.
The attacks rage on while Israel keeps up its crippling blockade on Gaza, which it imposed on the enclave in 2007.
