The assassination drone attacks carried out by the United States only enraged people in the countries targeted by the unmanned vehicles, an analyst says.

“These drone strikes are doing nothing except further alienating and enraging people”, Abayomi Azikiwe told Press TV’s U.S. Desk on Sunday.

“The U.S. has engaged in numerous wars over the last twelve and half years that have been totally unjustified. The people in Afghanistan, in Pakistan, in Yemen and Somalia have been principle victims of these wars”, he added.

“They cite the 9/11 attacks as the reason behind the so-called war on terrorism, but none of the people identified by U.S. intelligence services, none of them came from Afghanistan, Pakistan or Iraq, so
this is totally a fabrication”, Azikiwe said.

In his latest comments, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Washington would continue an open-ended drone war against suspected militants in Pakistan and elsewhere.

“It’s been an important part of our operations against al-Qaeda, not just in Pakistan, but also in Yemen, in Somalia and I think it ought to continue to be a tool we ought to use where necessary”, he said.

"The exponential rise in the use of drone technology in a variety of military and non-military contexts represents a real challenge to the framework of established international law," British lawyer Ben Emmerson, the U.N. rapporteur on counterterrorism and human rights has said. foxnews.com

A report, “Living Under Drones,” prepared by experts from the Stanford Law School and the New York University School of Law, disclosed that the U.S. campaign of drone “strikes in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal belt is terrorizing civilians 24 hours a day and breeding bitter anti-American sentiment. [They] have killed thousands of people…even stopping their children going to school for fear of being targeted.”

Based on research, the report urged Washington to rethink its drone strategy, arguing it was counterproductive and undermined international law. (globalresearch.ca)
