Southern Africa: Family Minister At SADC Gender and Development Meeting

Luanda — The Minister of Family and Women Promotion, Filomena Delgado, is attending on 11-14 February in Maputo, Mozambique, the meeting of ministers in charge of gender and development sector of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC).
A note from the institution that reached Angop on Monday reads that the event will happen under the topic "Equitable sharing of responsibilities between women and men, including care services in the context of HIV and Aids.
According to the document, the event will be preceded by experts meeting, which is a preparatory one for the ministerial meeting that will serve for the signing by the member countries of the region declaration to be presented in the UN/Women annual forum, which happens annually in New York in US.
The note reads that during the meeting, the ministers will be briefed on the progress achieved with the implementation of SADC regional programme on Gender and Development.
The conference will also analyse the common position of SADC regarding the 57th Session of UN Commission on Women Status, set for March this year in New York in US.
In this meeting, the minister is being accompanied by the national director for the Gender Promotion, Marilena Gamboa and other senior employees of her office.
